I went on a retreat a few weeks ago, and it was just the thing for recalibrating my energy, focus and enthusiasm. What is was not about was work-life balance, because I don't think it's the right paradigm for my life, and maybe not for yours, either.

I am busy at the moment, really busy. (Actually, REALLY REALLY busy is more like it...) So I devoured with immediate interest the Harvard blog post by Gina Trapani on preventing burnout by taking a year-long creative sabbatical. My immediate reaction was 'Great idea, but maybe next lifetime'.

With a break looming for most of us at least, it's a good chance to chill out and relax. But saying 'just relax' is about as useful as 'don't worry, be happy' - some tips and tools are needed to get from A (stress bunny) to B (cool banana). Check these ideas out.
