I went for a long walk with my dog today, listening to an old favourite on my iPod, David Whyte's quite marvellous Clear Mind Wild Heart. I reached the place where he talks of those times in our lives where we have to become bigger, where we must find a way to inhabit a greater sense of possibility than before.

I'm always interested when clients tell me they want to change careers, or start their own business, or introduce a sweeping change in their workplace - especially when they expect to make this shift without a learning curve.

I've been teaching a career workshop this week and talking about working with your strengths to get to that state that Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls flow. It's an almost automatic, effortless, yet highly focused and pleasurable state of consciousness where you are in your element and performing at your peak.
