Towards the end of last year, I decided that next year was going to be MY year. I would achieve some goals I have long held, get back into a consistent writing habit, restore my vim and vitality and generally let it rip. (I did have just enough sense not to wish for the fountain of youth...)

Last Sunday I was walking down Harris Street in Pyrmont on my way to join friends at a pub for lunch, when I was approached by a well-dressed woman of a certain age. (I have always wanted to use that phrase in my writing, and now I can cross it off my list...)
