One of my favourite quotes is from American poet Muriel Rukeyser: The world is made of stories, not atoms. Stories aren't just for children, or indulgent afternoons on the sofa. They are are equally important in the world of work.

Many people have a perception that innovation is about complex research and scientific laboratory work, years of burning the midnight oil and developing a mad scientist persona. Maybe sometimes that's true, but there are plenty of good Aussie stories of 'ordinary' men and women who saw a problem and came up with a (generally very simple) new and better way to solve it.

At heart, we are all storytellers, we live our lives through stories. A good story has the power to engage our emotions, to inspire us while we absorb the lessons or concepts behind it. In changing times, crafting and telling your corporate story is vital, inside the company as well as with clients and other stakeholders.
