This is a brilliant TED talk by Angela Lee Duckworth, about the importance of perseverance, or what she calls grit. The video makes a great scientific case for sticking with a field, rather than drifting or flitting from job to job, or activity to activity.

I found this mini TED talk recently, about how doodling helps you process information and think creatively. It's less than six minutes long, but makes a great case for encourage doodling at work, in meetings, when you are stuck...(Anywhere, really.)

Four years ago, English creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson argued in his first talk for TED that we don't get the best out of people because we've been educated to become good workers, rather than creative thinkers. Students with restless minds and bodies - far from being cultivated for their energy and curiosity - are ignored or even stigmatized, with terrible consequences. 'We are educating people out of their creativity,' he said.
