I've been certified...this will be no surprise to some of you, but in fact my certification is as a licensee of the Highlands Abilities Battery, a world-leading assessment of natural strengths and talents. Although Highlands Battery sounds like a Scottish domestic violence offence, it's actually a thorough (and fascinating) series of 19 work samples you do online.

Unlike most assessments, it sets up actual timed scenarios or games that you get to play with - rather than the more usual self-assessment 'what would you do if...' multiple-choice questions.

I've been increasingly impressed with the rigour and the results of this tool during my own licensing training. Now I'm really enjoying using it in the real world.

Unlike skills or even values, our natural abilities are pretty well hard-wired by age 14 or 15, and can be tested with a validated level of accuracy. If you're wondering about changing your career, or deciding between two potential directions, or what type of workplace would suit you best - or you're just in it for some self-awareness - the Highlands Battery can offer a fascinating insight.

What you get is the online assessment (3 hours, which passes quickly as it's pretty fun, and you can do it in several chunks if you prefer), a 30-page personal report and a two-hour debrief with me, in person in Sydney or by phone or Skype anywhere in the world.

You can do it as a stand-alone, or if you've already done (or are currently doing) a career program with me, use it to add another layer of depth to your enquiries.
